Introduction
As a part of the academic curriculum, the Department of Pharmacy organized an industrial visit to Phoenix Biologicals Pvt. Ltd., Puducherry. The visit was arranged to provide students with practical exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing practices and quality assurance systems followed in the pharmaceutical industry.
About the Industry
Phoenix Biologicals Pvt. Ltd. is a WHO-GMP certified pharmaceutical manufacturing company engaged in the production of a wide range of pharmaceutical formulations, including tablets, capsules, dry powders, nutraceuticals, and topical preparations. The company manufactures products in several therapeutic categories such as cardiovascular, antidiabetic, antibiotics, gastrointestinal, neurological, respiratory, hormonal, and dermatological medicines while maintaining stringent quality standards.
Objectives of the Visit
- To understand pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
- To observe Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) followed in the industry.
- To gain knowledge about quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- To understand the functioning of various production departments.

Activities During the Visit
The students were welcomed by the company officials and provided with an overview of the organization, its products, and manufacturing facilities. A detailed presentation was given on pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance.
The students visited various departments including the raw material warehouse, production department, granulation and compression section, capsule filling section, packing and labeling section, quality control laboratory, quality assurance department, and finished goods warehouse. The officials explained the manufacturing process, equipment used, documentation practices, in-process quality checks, and safety measures followed throughout production.
